May 30, 2017 Section 34:1-12 Belief and Faith, Faith and Belief, Faith and Works, Holy Ghost Miracles are ‘Normal’ to the Lord, Obtaining Lord’s Promises Requires Our Work and Our Study, Faith Blessings Of, Second Coming, I often love the synopsis statements at the beginning of the section that describe what we will find in the verses. Sometimes their succinctness helps me focus more on the primary message. That’s what happened as I started to read Section 34: “ 1-4 The faithful become the sons of God through the atonement; 5-9 Preaching of the gospel prepares the way for the Second Coming; 10-12 Prophecy comes by the power of the Holy Ghost. ” The Lord speaks to Orson Pratt as “my son” because as “a young man of nineteen years of age, who had been baptized at the first preaching of his brother, Parley P Pratt” because he believed and he acted on that belief. 5/29/2017 - Section 33:1-18

May 29, 2017 Section 33:1-18 Missionary Instructions, Missionary Rewards, Gates of Hell, Spiritual Backup Disk, Both Ezra Thayne and Northop Sweet are very recent converts—they still have much to learn about the gospel. They are called to be missionaries, and the first instruction that are given is to “ open ye your ears and hearken to the voice of the Lord your God…”   (v 1) We can’t go wrong when we do that, but we must realize that opening our ears and hearkening to the voice of the Lord –if we are not used to doing this—is a learning experience that takes dedication, effort, pondering, prayer and action. As long as we are working to do as He says, He will aid our efforts. May 27, 2017 Section 32:1-4 Missionary Goals, Missionary How To’s, Missionary Difficult Times, Missionary Power Give Heed, Satan’s Compliments, Spiritual Gifts, Spiritual Strengths, P 66 has the formal covenant Oliver Cowdery wrote at the time of his being called as a missionary to the Lamanites (and others along the way i.e. Sidney Rigdon): “ I, Oliver, being commanded by the Lord God, to go forth unto the Lamanites, to proclaim glad tidings of great joy unto them, by presenting unto them the fullness of the Gospel, of the only begotten Son of God; and also, to rear up a pillar as a witness where the temple of God shall be built, in the glorious New Jerusalem; and having certain brothers with me, who are called of God to assist me, whose names are Parley, and Peter, and Ziba, do therefore most solemnly covenant with God that I will walk humbly before him and do this business, and this glorious work according as he shall direct me by the Holy Ghost; ever praying for mine and t...
