December 8, 2018 Section 128:1-18 Baptism for the Dead, Genealogy, Last Days, Service, Temple Service, Journals, Spiritual Things To Be Recorded and Preserved, This section is a letter written to the church explaining baptism for the dead. It was written by Joseph while he was in hiding. V 8 says “ …whatsoever you record on earth shall be recorded in heaven; and whatsoever you do not record on earth shall not be recorded in heaven; for out of the books shall your dead be judged., according to their own works…” My thoughts on that verse were that I really should record my own inspirations and insights. Spiritual things are delicate and fragile. They sometimes fade with time. If we record them when we recognized them, then they are there for us to go back to again and again. They are there to direct us and help us negotiate those times we go periodically through when we seem to feel fewer answers and gifts from the Holy Ghost. I love v 15: “ …let me...

October 15, 2018 Section 115: 8-10 Do it Do it Now, Unity, Obedience, Follow the Prophet, Gird Up Your Loins, Service, Ministering, I’ve had some computer troubles and thought I had lost much of this scripture journal, but I only lost 1 day. So today, for the second time, I will study the last part of section 115. And I’m am doing that because it brought a new insight to me as I read it. I will try to recapture those thoughts. The Lord is speaking to a people who have joined the church, have made a long move to the edge of civilization, who have built communities in Jackson County Missouri, and who have been forced out of their home and to a new place where they will start, once again to build and to settle. Did they do everything right through all of these difficult journeys? No. They were prideful within and without church communities. They were sometimes stingy in how they obeyed commandments. June 22, 2018 Section 101:1-16 Lord’s Jewels, Be Still and Know that I am God, Diversity, Traits to Avoid, Mistakes & Misdeeds, Joy in this Life, Joy Eternal, Obedience, Priorities, Lord's Priorities, Service, I love verse 3 when the Lord speaks about his second coming, and all those who will be His, “ in that day when I shall come to ake up my jewels.” I read that and think of all the beautiful jewels I see—in every color, every cut, every style—they are all different, all beautiful, all desired—just like people. In the Church there is not just one single type of jewel, but all are desired and admired. That’s how we should act toward all others. In v’s 6-8 he explains why he had to get their attention: “ 6.   Behold, I say unto you, there were jarrings, contentions, and envyings, and strifes, ad lustful and covetous desires among them; thereby they poluted their inheritances. 7.
