10/30/2018 - Section 122:1-9

October 30, 2018 Section 122:1-9 Trials and Tribulations, Endure to the End, Atonement, Lord’s Closeness to Us, This is the second revelation that was received over a 5 day period when Joseph was in Liberty Jail. This is how one description that went right to my heart: “ The five months of imprisonment, abuse, malnutrition, and separation that the Prophet Joseph Smith and his friends suffered in Liberty Jail in Missouri contrast starkly with the sublime communication sent by the Prophet to the suffering Saints.” V 1 speaks of the harsh experiences that Joseph Smith will receive from men and from hell. President Kimball said, besides fulfilling prophecy, this negative attention is in one way a good sign: “We can…tell that we are making progress by the attention we get from the adversary….This has been the lot of the Lord’s people from the beginning, and it will be no different in our time.” April 1980 Gen Conf In verses 4-7 the Lord details various, an...

10/28/2018 - Section 121:1-25

October 28, 2018 Section 121:1-25 Trials, Tribulations, Endure to the End, Liberty Jail, Peace from the Lord, Blessings of Trials Tribulations and Hardships, Joseph Smith wrote this revelation, as well as Section 122 and 123 when he was in-prisoned in Liberty Jail for some months, in terrible conditions, and under terrible treatment. President Joseph Fielding Smith wrote of these as “one of the greatest letters that was ever penned by the hand of man. In fact it was the result of humble inspiration . It is a prayer and a prophecy and an answer by revelation from theLord. None other but a noble soul filled with the spirit of love of Christ could have written such a letter. Considering [their sufferings], it is no wonder that the Prophet cried out in the anguish of his soul for relief. Yet, in his earnest pleading, there breathed a spirit of tolerance and love for his fellow man.” (Church Hisotry and Modern Revelations, 2-176.) So Joseph is living...

10/18/2018 - Section 117:1-7

October 18, 2018 Section 117:1-7 Obedience, Do it Do it Now, Follow the Prophet, Draw Near Unto Him, Endure to the End, Interesting background here:             “This revelation in the D&C is the first of four revelations that were all given to the Prophet Joseph Smith on 8 July 1838 at Far West, Missouri. Smith and Sjodhal Commmentary says: ‘The Lord had commanded the Saints to gather and build up Far West speedily (115:17). A company of 515 souls, known as the Kirtland Camp left Kirtland on the 6 th of July 1838 for Zion. On the 14 th of Sept, it appears only 260 members were left, the other having been scatterred ‘to the four winds’ . The camp arrived in Adam-ondi-Ahman on the 4th of October. Netiher Marks, Whitney, nor Granger were members of this company. [Granger was already in Far West. He carried this revelation to Marks and Whitney in Kirtland and was instructed to return speedily to the lan...

7/1/2018- Section 101:23-38

July 1, 2018 Section 101: 23-38 Second Coming, Patience, Endure to the End, I’ve always wondered about the Second Coming—not about whether or not it will happine, but HOW it will happen. When the scriptures talk about Christ’s coming and that the entire earth shall see Him, I wondered if that meant it would be covered on all TV’s and all computers and all cell phones. And then today, in v 23 I see things from a different angle. In v 22 the Lord tells us to stand in holy places, and then v 23 : “And prepare for the revelation which is to come, when the veil of the covering of my temple, in my tabernacle, which hideth the earth, shall be taken off, and all flesh shall see me together.” To me this is the time that the long process of all spirits coming to the earth shall have finished that phase of our education. A veil will be removed, and we will see the eternal part of our existence. The Lord has always been able to see us, to hear us, to talk to us whenever ...
