September 18, 2018 Section 111:1-11 Follies of Man, Lord’s Watchful & Loving Care Over Individuals, Holy Ghost Peace and Power Flows Into Us, Riches are More Than Money, This section is about Joseph, Sidney, Oliver and Hyrum’s trip to Salem Massachusetts. This is after the Kirtland Temple completion which left the church and the members basically impoverished. In addition to that the state of Missouri “had heavily taxed the spiritual and temporal resources of the Church, which was barely 6 weeks old.” At this time a brother by the name of Burgess came to sown and sated he had knowledge of a large amount of money in the cellar of a certain house in Salem that had belonged to a widow, now deceased, and he thought he was the only person who had knowledge of it, or of the location of the house.
