7/24/2018 - Section 105:1-25

July 24, 2018 Section 105:1-25 Pure in Heart, United Order Problems, Purify Ourselves, Good Samaritan Opportunities, Humility, Unselfishness, Love, Prayer, Draw Near Unto Me, Temple Importance, In v’s 4-5 the Lord explains, once again, why the saints were forced from their homes. It was because they were “ not united according to the union required by the law of the celestial kingdom; and Zion cannot be built up unless it is b the principles of the law of the celestial kingdom: otherwise I cannot receive her unto myself.” The Lord gave the saints the opportunity to live a celestial law, but the saints lacked a celestial love, as well as a celestial effort. August 22, 2017 Section 64:1-17 JS Translation of the Bible, Forgiveness Required, Mercy, Charity, Love, Holding Grudges, Pride…Bridle it, First, the student manual provides one of the best descriptions of Joseph Smith’s translation of the Bible as it speaks of his preparing to move to John Johnson’s house in Hiram, about 30 miles from Kirtland: “…the prophet spent most of his spare time preparing for the continuation of the translation of the Bible. The student manual gives a theme to this section, which is “ of you it is required to forgive all men .” The beginning 7 verses speak of the Lord’s mercy toward the people of the c...

Mr. Knight had hired Joseph to work for him. When Mr. Knight learned more of what Joseph was doing, he “ very kindly and considerately brought us a quantity of provisions, in order that we might not be interrupted in the work of translation by the want of such necessaries of life; and I would just mention here, as in duty bound that he several times brought us supplies, a distance of at least thirty miles, which enabled us to continue the work when otherwise we must have relinquished it for a season.   Being very anxious to know his duty as to this work, I inquired of the Lord for him and obtained the following: [D&C 12]” JK believed the things JS said about the plates and the work of translation. He put this faith into action as he broug...
