July 27, 2017 Section 57:1-16 Society Differences, Missionary Society Differences, Bloom Where You Are Planted, Missionary Companions, Marriage Companions, Joseph Smith was one of the men who was called by revelation to journey to Missouri in Section 52. Sidney Rigdon was his companion. Joseph recorded the following after he and Sidney arrived in Missouri among the Indians and the settlers of the area: “ The meeting of our brethren [Oiliver Cowdery, Peter Whitmer Jr., Ziba Peterson, and Frederick G Williams—all called as missionaries to serve in Missouri] who had long awaited our arrival, was a glorious one, and moistened with many tears. July 11, 2017 Section 48:1-5 Bloom Where You Are Planted, New Jerusalem, Follow the Prophets, Kirtland Gathering, The members of the Church, obedient to the Lord’s commands in Section 37:1-3 (“Herein is given the first commandment concerning a gathering in this dispensation”) and 45:64 (Wherefore I, the Lord, have said, gather ye out of the eastern lands, assemble ye yourselves together ye elders of my church; go ye forth into the western countries, call upon the inhabitants to repent, and inasmuch as they do repent, build up churches unto me.”) The lesson manual titles this as “ Ohio: A Temporary Abode”   P 103: “   ‘Zion!’ The very word stirred the emotions of the early Saints. April 13, 2017 Section 11:15-30 Life Plans, Service, Bloom Where You Are Planted, Priorities, When Life Gets In the Way, Daily Life, I’ve felt myself in an interesting place this last bit of time. I kept thinking that in coming to Bend we were putting our life on ‘hold’ while acknowledging the highest priority of our family: that of helping Alex in her fight with stomach cancer. We came here with everything we would need for our missions, and planned to process mission papers from here in Bend when Alex no longer had need for our support. I also came with serious projects that I would work on during the times Alex did not need me. But I’m finding that it is impossible to put a life on ‘hold’. Church callings continue to come. We started out talking with our bishop and telling him we would support the ward all we could, but wanted to keep our time available for Alex and the kids.
