July 26, 2018 Section 105:26-41 Law of Consecration, United Order, Charity, Draw Near Unto Me, Seeing Others as the Lord Sees Them, Spiritual Growth, Patience, Endurance, Keeping Our Goal In Sight, As I read v 28 & 29, it suddenly struck me at the economy of the Lord’s language, of his ability to say so much in so few words. He is speaking of how to proceed with the growth and settlement of Jackson County, and this is given AFTER many of the saints have been forced from their home, and after the Lord has explained where and how they failed to live up to the law of consecration “ And to have sent wise men, to fulfil that which I have commanded concerning the purchasing of all the lands in Jackson county that can be purchased, and in the adjoining counties round about.    For it is my will that these lands should be purchased; and after they are purchased that my saints should possess them according to the laws of consecration which I have given.” ...

July 11, 2018 Section 103:5-14 Lord’s Parenting, Obedience, Straighten Up & Fly Right, Patience, Persistence, The Lord continues to explain why he permitted the abuses to the saints by the mobs of Jackson County. And in v 5 he tells them how to correct things: “ But verily I say unto you, that I have decreed a decree which my people shall realized, inasmuch as they hearken fro this very hour unto the counsel which I, the Lord their God, shall give unto them.” He doesn’t ask them to get better step by step. He asks them to keep the counsel that he gives them FROM THIS VERY HOUR. They have suffered greatly because they let so many little things keep them from following the Lord’s commands explicitly. There are many times we grow bit by bit, but they had been very remiss, and very selfish, and very proud, and the Lord tells them to stop that immediately and never repeat it. July 1, 2018 Section 101: 23-38 Second Coming, Patience, Endure to the End, I’ve always wondered about the Second Coming—not about whether or not it will happine, but HOW it will happen. When the scriptures talk about Christ’s coming and that the entire earth shall see Him, I wondered if that meant it would be covered on all TV’s and all computers and all cell phones. And then today, in v 23 I see things from a different angle. In v 22 the Lord tells us to stand in holy places, and then v 23 : “And prepare for the revelation which is to come, when the veil of the covering of my temple, in my tabernacle, which hideth the earth, shall be taken off, and all flesh shall see me together.” To me this is the time that the long process of all spirits coming to the earth shall have finished that phase of our education. March 29, 2017 Section 9:1-14 Patience, In the Lord’s Time, Revelation, Prayerful Requests, Best Our Best, I found a great truth described in the Historical Background of Section 9—one that is   often difficult to live with, but I think probably more important than we will know in our mortal life. Oliver Cowdery has expressed a desire to not just be the scribe, but to work on the translation of the plates also. “ Oliver is admonished to be patient, and is urged to be content to write, for the time being….” The Lord knows what we can handle, and what we should handle, and He also knows when we need more preparation—but He always acts for our benefit and growth: v 3, 4, 6 & 13 to Oliver who was not up to the work of translation:   3 “ Be patient, my son, for it is wisdom in me, and it is not expedient that you should translate at this present time.    4 Behold, the work which you are called to do is to write for my servant Joseph. 6   Do not murmur, m...
