February 5, 2019 Section 138:35-60 Vision of the Spirit World, Life After Death, Learning and Teaching Continue Forever, Temple Work Importance Of, Rest of the Lord, Wayward Children, V 35 makes it clear that missionary work continues on into the spirit world so that all may know Christ’s mission of redemption.   And v 36 makes it clear that work, and our callings to help in that work, do not end with mortal life. For the life we have is much fuller and deeper than what we are used to in this mortal world. V’s 47 & 48 emphasizes the importance of ‘planting in the hearts of the children the promises made to their fathers.    Foreshadowing the great work to be done in the temples of the Lord in the dispensation of the fullness of times, for the redemption of the dead, and the sealing of the children to their parents, lest the whole earth be smitten with a curse and utterly wasted at his coming.’   We can learn and grow whether we are ...

June 24, 2018 Section 101:17-22 Wayward Children, Pure in Heart, Lord’s Promises, Joy, Temple Sealings, Prayer, Friendships, Relationships with the Lord and with others, Draw Near Unto Him. My study starts this morning with two beautiful verses, that I hope to take literally: “ 17. Zion shall not be moved out of her place, notwithstanding her children are scattered. 18 They that remain, and are pure in heart, shall return, and come to their inheritances, they and their children, with songs of everlasting joy, to build up the waste places of Zion--“ In the deepest pockets of my heart, I hope this speaks to the eternal power of temple sealings.   And then there is v 22: “ Behold, it is my will that all they who call on my name, and worship me according to mine everlasting gospel, should gather together and stand in holy places.” That, to me, is a concise statement of what should comprise the essentials of my daily life. July 17, 2017 Section 50:31-46 Missionary Growth and Protection, Wayward Children, Personal Revelation, See the Face of the Lord, We are almost finished with our mission papers—we have our final doctor’s appointment today. I mention this because every verse I read seems to speak of missionaries. Leading up to v 35, the Lord is speaking about staying close to Him and following the promptings of the Holy Ghost, and maintaining a firm desire to do all that is right—thus growing closer to Him. The promises for that are in v 35: “ And by giving heed and doing these things which ye have received, and which ye shall hereafter receive—and the kingdom is given you of the Father, and power to overcome all things which are not ordained of him.” None of us enters…or leaves…our mission perfect. But hopefully, we WILL leave our mission with softer hearts, having worked to help others in their gospel and their temporal lives, having worked to see all people as Christ sees them, and working a...
