2/5/2018 - Section 79:1-4

February 5, 2018 Section 79:1-4 Missionary Attitude, Missionaries & the Comforter, Glad Hearts, Work Ethic, Joseph gave no explanation for this section, But Jared Carter—the man to whom this section is addressed—explained that he had inquired of Joseph regarding the will of the Lord for him. The Lord answers in v 1 that Jared should go “again” east “from city to city, in power of the ordination wherewith he has been ordained, proclaiming glad tidings of great joy, even the everlasting gospel.” He had already served a mission. But after this revelation, he and his brother started out again. Jared wrote in his journal that he labored 6 months and two days and converted 79 souls. This section is only 4 verses long—but what wonderful advice it contains for us as missionaries: v 2 “And I will send upon him the Comforter, which shall teach him the truth and the way wither he should go;” Being righteous for and desirous of the Comforter can solve many of our life’s dilem...

Calling on the name of the Lord for the Comforter, which shall teach them all things that are expedient for them—11. Praying always that they faint not; and inasmuch as they do this, I will be with them even unto the end.”   12: “Behold, this is the will of the Lord your God concerning you….” 13:...proclaim the things which I have commanded them; and inasmuch as they are faithful, lo, I will be with them even unto the end.” Smith and...

May 9, 2017 Section 24:1-19 Callings – Secrets of Succeeding, Missionary Blessings, Miracles, Humility, Dust of your Feet, Holy Ghost Influence Of, Charity to All, Teaching Pruning, Cursing, Missionary Attitude, Reminder from May 8, 2017: Though less than four months had elapsed since the Church was organized, persecution had become intense, and the leaders had to seek safety in partial seclusion. The following three revelations [Sections 24, 25, 26] were given at this time to strengthen, encourage and instruct them.”   In v’s 5-9 the Lord is giving directions to Joseph that will allow him to complete the tremendous calling that he has been given: “ For thou shalt devote all thy service in Zion; and in this thou shalt have strength.    Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days…Attend to thy calling and thus shalt have wherewith to magnify thine office….”   These scriptures ...
