May 1, 2018 Section 93:19-30 Progress, Growth, Worship, Grace, Truth and the True Church, V 19 is very much like the prayer I offered before I started my reading today, or probably better stated: it is very much an immediate answer to the prayer I offered before I started my reading today: “ I give unto you these sayings that you may understand and know how to worship, and know what you worship, that you may come unto the Father in my name, and in due time receive of his fullness.” And, very appropriately, v 20 continues to teach and promise, saying that if I keep His commandments I SHALL be glorified…and I SHALL receive grace for grace…(which, from yesterday’s study where I learned that grace is   “the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of Christian virtues.” I don’t need to be worried a...

December 22, 2017 D&C 72:1-6 Journal, Draw Near Unto Me   How To, Missionary in Hostile Discussions, Atonement, Relationship With The Lord, Progress, Growth, Before I start on section 72, I’d thought I’d record some thoughts I had while pondering during the sacrament meeting last Sunday: I want to begin to pray to see my own short comings, and do this so that I can work to become better bit by bit. This isn’t to remind me how far I still have to go. It’s to help me actually look forward to getting better in the areas that are most important for me to work on. Not only would this effort help me to access the power of the atonement more often (for I think I try to do too much on my own without asking Heavenly Father for help), but it would make the atonement so much more than something I work to access only in times of trouble, or distress. July 7, 2017 Section 46 follow-up Gifts of the Spirit, Spiritual Gifts, Spiritual Gifts How to Obtain, Ask Seek Knock, Progress, Perfection Road To, Sometimes, in my scripture studies, I find when I finish reading and pondering and writing my thoughts about the scriptures I have read that day, that my time is up and I have to close my scriptures and my study guide and get on with my day’s demands. That is what happened at the end of section 46. We were moving to our second house in Bend and there was much demanding work to be done. We are now mostly settled, and I realized I didn’t complete the study manual on section 46.
