April 30, 2018 Section 93:2-18 Light of Christ, Scripture Yet To Be Revealed, Obedience, Grace, Draw Near Unto Me, In v 6 Christ speaks of John’s record of His ministry, telling us that “ the fullness of John’s record is hereafter to be revealed.” I followed the footnote from that verse to John 20:30-31: “ 30. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31. But there are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing he might have life through his name.” Bruce R McConkie felt that John the apostle wrote having John the Baptist’s writings, and thus, John the Baptist’s firm testimony, and someday the world will also have that. For v’s 6-18 promise that, and explain how even Jesus had to grow grace by grace in this world and “ received not of the fullness at first, but continued from grace to grace, until he received a fullness.” (v 13) And then comes v 1...

February 27, 2018 Section 88:6-13 Light of Christ, Christ Light of, Atonement, Christ as Our Example, Growth Experience Can and Should Bring It, V 6 describes what Christ did in coming to earth and atoning for our sins—and that’s the way I have always thought of the atonement: that Christ suffered for us in order to allow us the possibility of turning to Him, requesting His help, and allowing Him to heal us in whatever way we need at that time. So essentially I have seen the atonement as an amazing sacrifice of Christ that allows Him to help us. But this verse opened up another aspect of the atonement that I have never considered. “ he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth.” The experience of the Atonement for Christ was definitely for us, as he did take upon him our sins, he suffered for us, he suffered all the pains and worries of all the people of the world.
