Light of Christ, Christ Light of, Atonement, Christ as Our Example, Growth Experience Can and Should Bring It,

V 6 describes what Christ did in coming to earth and atoning for our sins—and that’s the way I have always thought of the atonement: that Christ suffered for us in order to allow us the possibility of turning to Him, requesting His help, and allowing Him to heal us in whatever way we need at that time. So essentially I have seen the atonement as an amazing sacrifice of Christ that allows Him to help us. But this verse opened up another aspect of the atonement that I have never considered. “he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth.” The experience of the Atonement for Christ was definitely for us, as he did take upon him our sins, he suffered for us, he suffered all the pains and worries of all the people of the world. Yes, he did that for us. But now I feel that instituting the atonement was also an amazing growth process for Him. For in feeling the pain of every person, he truly KNOWS that pain, which means to me that when we turn to Him, He will help us in the exact way we need for he has felt exactly what we have felt in our hardest times.

He created the earth and he created light for the earth: ‘Let there be light!’ But he is also our light. He has been the way we have been, he has in actuality felt our pain, and he, more than anyone anywhere KNOWS the things that will bring us back to a place of peace and comfort and productivity.

V 11 explains He “enlighteneth your eyes, which is the same light that quickeneth your understandings”. V 12 “which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God”. V 13 “which giveth life to all things” and from another verse, John 10:10: “I am come that they might have life (eternal life), and that they might have it more abundantly.” He HAS been where we have been, and he wants us to come to him that he might give us light—light in our life, light in our journey, light as in ‘now I see’.
