February 21, 2018 Section 87:1-8 Civil War, Obedience Rewards Of, Follow the Prophet, Pray for Faith, I find it very interesting that this section that prophesied conflict that would come to be known as the Civil War in the United States came at a time when “ the brethren were reflecting and reasoning upon African slavery on the American continent and the slavery of the children of men throughout the world.” I also find it very interesting that it was received on December 25 of 1832. I don’t know if I would have spent my Christmas holiday in such prayerful thought and discussion—even though in reality, what better thing could you do on Christmas than celebrate Christ’s birth by trying to understand and help make the world a better place. V 1 begins: “ Verily, thus saith the Lord concerning the wars that will shortly come to pass, beginning at the rebellion of South Carolina, which will eventually terminate in the death and misery of many souls;”   Th...

June 16, 2017 Section 42:53-93 Scriptures Our Guide for Living, Lord’s Plan is Simple & Effective, General Conference, Civil War, Seek Wisdom Be Rewarded, Missionary Living, Growth Just Keep Growing,  The Lord is continuing with His instructions to those who have faith: v53 “ Thou shalt stand in the place of thy stewardship.” That is a simple plan to follow. Do what we have been called to do, and have charity for those around us. A simple formula that would help us in so many areas of our lives. V 59 “ Thou shalt take the things which thou hast received, which have been given unto thee in my scriptures for a law, to be my law to govern my church.”   And when we are in doubt or unsure: v 61 & 62 “If thou shalt as, thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation; knowledge upon knowledge, that thou mayest know the mysteries and peaceable things—that which bringeth joy, that which bringeth life eternal.   Thou shalt ask, and it shall be revealed unto you in mi...
