July 26, 2018 Section 105:26-41 Law of Consecration, United Order, Charity, Draw Near Unto Me, Seeing Others as the Lord Sees Them, Spiritual Growth, Patience, Endurance, Keeping Our Goal In Sight, As I read v 28 & 29, it suddenly struck me at the economy of the Lord’s language, of his ability to say so much in so few words. He is speaking of how to proceed with the growth and settlement of Jackson County, and this is given AFTER many of the saints have been forced from their home, and after the Lord has explained where and how they failed to live up to the law of consecration “ And to have sent wise men, to fulfil that which I have commanded concerning the purchasing of all the lands in Jackson county that can be purchased, and in the adjoining counties round about.    For it is my will that these lands should be purchased; and after they are purchased that my saints should possess them according to the laws of consecration which I have given.” ...

January 27, 2018 Section 78:10, 17-22 United Order, Satan’s Tactics, Law of Consecration, Spiritual Growth, Line upon Line, God’s Love, God’s Name, Christ’s Name, Adam-ondi-Ahman, I don’t know how I missed v 10 yesterday! Here the Lord is giving the saints a higher law—one that will bring more joy and blessings to all, but at the same time, will be a growth challenge for the saints. The Lord gives a broad explanation of the law, He tells them why he is instituting the law, He tells them the blessing that will come from following this law [13 behold, this is the preparation wherewith I prepare you, and the foundation, and the ensample which I give unto you, whereby you may accomplish the commandments which are given you….15. That you may come up unto the crown prepared for you, and be made rulers over many kingdoms…” , and He also warns us of Satan’s tactics…I would think because He’s hoping that knowing the enemy’s offense would be enough of a head’s-up warning to us: v10: “O...

December 23, 2017 Section 72:7-26 Atonement, Law of Consecration, This part of section 72 speaks of the role of bishop. I found the duties of the bishop in regard to caring for the “poor and the needy” very interesting. The saints are, at this point, still struggling to understand and live the law of consecration. The plan states (v 13) “he who hath not, wherewith to pay, an account shall be taken and handed over to the bishop of Zion, who shall pay the debt out of that which the Lord shall put into his hands.” This ability to pay the debts of the poor and needy comes from the fact that (v15) “every man that cometh up to Zion must lay all things before the bishop in Zion.” To me this is a physical description of the atonement. Christ paid for all the sins of all the people on earth. He gave all the benefit of His work to us.
