July 29, 2018 Section 106:1-8 Second Coming, Lord’s Payments, Apostasy of 1837, Children of Light, Lord’s Work is Hard Work, Lord’s Promises This section is to Warren Cowdery. He is Oliver Cowdery’s eldest brother. Oliver was the youngest of 8 children and Warren was the oldest. Joseph Smith visited in his home. Warren is called as a ‘local presiding officer’. He is to work with the saints in his town, and in quite a few other towns in adjoining counties. The Lord has requested that he “ devote his whole time to the this high and holy calling, which I now give unto him seeking diligently the kingdom of heaven and its righteousness, and all things necessary shall be added thereunto; for the laborer is worth of his hire.” When we do our best in what we have been called to do, and add to that doing our best in what we are impressed to do, then the Lord has promised us all ‘necessities’, for we are “worthy of our hire”. July 1, 2018 Section 101: 23-38 Second Coming, Patience, Endure to the End, I’ve always wondered about the Second Coming—not about whether or not it will happine, but HOW it will happen. When the scriptures talk about Christ’s coming and that the entire earth shall see Him, I wondered if that meant it would be covered on all TV’s and all computers and all cell phones. And then today, in v 23 I see things from a different angle. In v 22 the Lord tells us to stand in holy places, and then v 23 : “And prepare for the revelation which is to come, when the veil of the covering of my temple, in my tabernacle, which hideth the earth, shall be taken off, and all flesh shall see me together.” To me this is the time that the long process of all spirits coming to the earth shall have finished that phase of our education. July 13, 2017 Section 49:15-28 Second Coming, Lord’s Commandments & Promises, Draw Near Unto Him, Lord’s Formula For Living, V 23 gives yet another description of what will happen at Christ’s second, and triumphant, coming along with instructions as to how we are to proceed until then: “ Wherefore, be not deceived, but continue in steadfastness, looking forth for the heavens to be shaken, and the earth to tremble and to reel to and fro as a drunken man, and for the valleys to be exalted, and for the mountains to be made low, and for the rough places to become smooth—and all this when the angel shall sound his trumpet.” These are some of the things which will occur prior to Christ’s returning in great glory to His temple (Malachi 3:1-3). These are frightening things, but Christ goes on in v 25 to say “ Zion shall flourish upon the hills and rejoice upon the mountains, and shall be assembled together unto the place which I have appointed.” And then, in v...

Formerly members of the Society of Friends (Quakers), they were called Shaking Quakers or Shakers for two reasons: Their dress and manners resembled in certain respects those of Quakers, and their manner of worship included shaking and physical contortions. The society seems to have had its beginning in England during the latter part of the 1700s. Ann Lee, founder of the Shakers, immigrated to America with her followers just before 1800.
