October 18, 2018 Section 117:1-7 Obedience, Do it Do it Now, Follow the Prophet, Draw Near Unto Him, Endure to the End, Interesting background here:             “This revelation in the D&C is the first of four revelations that were all given to the Prophet Joseph Smith on 8 July 1838 at Far West, Missouri. Smith and Sjodhal Commmentary says: ‘The Lord had commanded the Saints to gather and build up Far West speedily (115:17). A company of 515 souls, known as the Kirtland Camp left Kirtland on the 6 th of July 1838 for Zion. On the 14 th of Sept, it appears only 260 members were left, the other having been scatterred ‘to the four winds’ . The camp arrived in Adam-ondi-Ahman on the 4th of October. March 3, 2018 Section 88:17-31 Obedience Brings Blessings, Obedience (our obedience) on Earth Prepares Us, Progression is a Journey, Plan of Salvation, Draw Near Unto Him, Whatever our level of obedience on earth, it is our preparation for where we will live when we return to Heavenly Father. When speaking of the earth, v 19 says: “ For after it hath filled the measure of its creation, it shall be crowned with glory, even with the presence of God the Father.” This gives me comfort during those times I feel I can never live up to all the things we are asked to do. But I believe I sometimes misunderstand the timeline. When a kindergarten teacher welcomes her new class, she would never think of expecting them to perform college level work. But she does teach them how to act in school, how to behave toward one another. She teaches the basics with love and patience. July 13, 2017 Section 49:15-28 Second Coming, Lord’s Commandments & Promises, Draw Near Unto Him, Lord’s Formula For Living, V 23 gives yet another description of what will happen at Christ’s second, and triumphant, coming along with instructions as to how we are to proceed until then: “ Wherefore, be not deceived, but continue in steadfastness, looking forth for the heavens to be shaken, and the earth to tremble and to reel to and fro as a drunken man, and for the valleys to be exalted, and for the mountains to be made low, and for the rough places to become smooth—and all this when the angel shall sound his trumpet.” These are some of the things which will occur prior to Christ’s returning in great glory to His temple (Malachi 3:1-3). These are frightening things, but Christ goes on in v 25 to say “ Zion shall flourish upon the hills and rejoice upon the mountains, and shall be assembled together unto the place which I have appointed.” And then, in v...
