November 29, 2018 Section 124:103-145 Life Advice from the Lord, In this part of section 214, starting with v 70, the Lord speaks directly to several of the current leaders of the church by name. And though His advice to each one was meant specifically for each individual, His advice had very common threads for all: 87:’ if ye love me, keep my commandments”, 89: “henceforth hearken to the counsel of my servant Joseph [ the current prophet ]”, 97 “let him be humble before me, and be without guile, and he shall receive of my spirit, even the Comforter, which shall manifest unto him the truth of all things, and shall give him in the very hour what he shall say.” 103 “Arise and come up and stand in the office of his calling and humble himself before me” 110 “if he will hearken unto my voice, it shall be well with him.” 113 “And when he shall prove himself faithful in all things that shall be entrusted unto his care, yea even a few things, he shall be made ruler o...

November 28, 2018 Section 124:56-102 Home Atmosphere, Life Advice from the Lord, V 60 speaks of the Nauvoo House that is to be built for Joseph and Emma and their family to occupy, and the Lord instructs them as to how they should work to create a specific atmosphere in there house: “ …let it be a delightful habitation for man, and a resting-place for the weary traveler, that he may contemplate the glory of Zion, and the glory of this, the corner-stone thereof;” V 86 gives great general living advice: (1) “ If they live here let them live unto me; and if they die let them die unto me: for they shall rest from all their labors here, and shall continue their works.”   The Lord know the Big Picture, while we see only a part of it. November 26, 2018 Section 124:49-55 Commandments Purpose Of, Obedience Blessings Of, Lord as Our Mentor, The saints have been forced to leave Jackson County Missouri and the Lord explains the how he sees what they have done: v’s 49 & 51 “ Verily, verily, I say unto you, that when I give a commandment to any of the sons of men to do a work unto my name, and those sons of men go with all their might and with all they have to perform that work and cease not their diligence, and their enemies come upon them and hinder them from performing that work, behold, it behooveth me to require that work no more at the hands of those sons of men, but to accept of their offering.      Therefore, for this cause have I accepted the offerings of those whom I commanded to build up a city and a house unto my name in Jackson County, Missouri, and were hindered by their enemies, saith the Lord your God.” We are blessed for our desires, our genuine efforts, ...

November 16, 2018 Section 124:21-48 Temple Service, Temple Importance, Keep the Commandments…Really Well, Agency, In v’s 25-27, the saints are asked once again, to build a temple. This is the 5 th temple they have been asked to build. The Kirtland Temple was completed and the Nauvoo temple was completed, but used for only a brief time. The corner stones were laid in Jackson County Missouri, Kirtland Ohio, Far West, Missouri, Adam-oni-Ahan, Missouri. This shows the importance the Lord places on having a working temple, and then doing the work within the temple. I need to remember when I go, that while it is a place of peace and learning and renewal, it is also a place where we do work for others that they cannot do for themselves. It is the most important ‘service project’ in which we could be involved.
