December 31, 2018 Section 132:1-33 Marriage Eternal, Marriage Plural, Concubines, Obedience, Eternal Weight of Glory, Celestial Kingdom, Spiritual Growth, Man’s Laws/God’s Laws, Repentance Importance Of, The history is quite interesting here. “ The Prophet knew the Lord’s will on plural marriage within the new and everlasting covenant probably as early as 1831. (see history of the church, 5:xxix)I March 1843 he spoke to William Clayton of eternal marriage. 12/30/2018 Section 131:1-8 Calling and Election Made Sure, Three degrees of glory, Eternal Marriage, Evidently this section came from a time when Joseph Smith and William Clayton were visiting about 22 miles from Nauvoo, at the home of Brother and Sister Benjamin F Johnson. At one point in the evening, Joseph put his hand on William Clayton’s knee and said, “Your life is hid with Christ in God and so are many others. Nothing but the unpardonable sin can prevent you from inheriting eternal life for you are sealed up by the power of the priesthood unto eternal life, having taken the step necessary for that purpose.” After saying that, Joseph when on to speak about the priesthood. I think maybe that it might be relaxing to know that your calling and election is made sure. December 27, 2018 Section 130:1-23 Correction in the Church, Time Earth VS Eternity, Intelligence Gaining, Learning, Earthly Lessons Available, Obedience, Gospel Promises, Thy Ways My Ways, This section and the next section contain ”items of instruction”. I feel that the way these section came about may be as important as the information contained within these verses. “ On the 2 nd of April, 1843, the Prophet Joseph attended a meeting at which Orson Hyde spoke and, alluding to the coming of the Savior said, ‘when He shall appear, we shall be like Him, etc. He will appear on a white horse as a warrior, and may be we shall have some of the same spirit. Our God is a warrior. December 26, 2018 Section 129: 1-9 Angels, Angels True and False, Atonement Daily, Unwearyingness, Repentance Daily, Draw Near Unto Me, Journal,  Just a quick explanation: last October in General Conference, President Nelson asked everyone to read the Book of Mormon before the end of the year. It took us a few weeks to get our act together, but Bob and I began to read. We read together, and we read out loud, and our goal each day was to read 10 pages. There were several days that were so busy, we didn’t plan well enough to get our reading into the day’s activities. So on December 10, we told ourselves, no more missing any days of reading. I’m proud to report that we finished the Book of Mormon on Christmas day. To do that, we had to read the final 20 pages. It was a great addition to Christmas, as well as a wonderful beginning to the coming new year. But as of today, I’m back to the almost-every-day D&C, and all the insights this reading is bringing t...
